Ambassador Hotel

There are some really cool photographs of the Ambassador Hotel (at Churchgate in South Mumbai) at this site. I took some photographs to contrast with the old ones (I'm not sure how old these are, I assume from the cars it's around the 1930's) and the changes in the architecture are pretty sad.

Many, many buildings in Mumbai have removed their verandas, which has created these blocky looking facades. The building used to be much more welcoming, I think.

I took this shot while the guard and the cops were busy ogling some young lady.

Here's what the full building looks like now. They added a ridiculous rotating tower to the top of it a few decades ago. It's a pretty sad looking building now.
